Aside from the fact that The Princess Bride is among the most beloved films of all time, this scene is one that is very special to me and my husband. We both grew up watching this fantastic film, and we love these characters sometimes more than we care to admit. If you haven’t seen it, you need to. Right now. Stop reading this, and go watch it. Anyway, there is a scene with Miracle Max and his wife Valerie, when the main heartthrob Westly, goes to see them because he is “mostly dead.” These two lovebirds are arguing about what the poor almost dead fellow said, and Max says, “Be quiet, witch” to which she so speedily replies, “I’m not a witch, I’m your wife, and I’m not even sure I want to be that anymore.” It’s a scene that is frequently quoted between myself and my husband, because for all our differences and squabbles, if we are as loving and caring of each other when we are Miracle Max and Valerie’s age, then we can say that we’ve achieved something special.

I used photoshop to create this “scrapbook” page, and I love the image of these two sweethearts. I played around with the frame and quote bubble to reflect how I would imagine Ms. Valerie would scrapbook this moment. Completely in made up, but Bob said that is okay – It’s my world, I can make it whatever I want.

  1. It has been a long time since I’ve seen this movie, but I do remember this part. It is a fitting with the visuals you chose, but I now that I think about it, this would also make an interesting Valentine’s card.
